Children & Divorce

Parents are often worried about the effect that their divorce or separation is having on their children. The new Parenting Information Programme is designed to assist parents in understanding how their children are coping with divorce and separation and also what is expected of them in respect of their children’s needs. If parents cannot agree about the arrangements for their children Reeds recommend that the first step is to attend mediation to discuss the matter. This will assist in communication between parents and help them move forward at this difficult time.

Grandparents are also affected by divorce and can often loose contact with their grandchildren through no fault of their own. Reeds can advise grandparents as to their legal rights to see their children and assist them in making the correct application to the court if necessary. Remember, it is the parents who are getting divorced, not the children.
